The Rotary Club of Regina Oskaya is proud to be a part of the long tradition of Rotary clubs throughout the world that have saved and influenced countless lives. Regina Oskaya was founded in 2009 and is the youngest club in Regina and Rotary District 5550. Our name ‘Oskaya’ is a Cree word meaning youth, and our club reflects this in both our membership and the projects we choose to do in our efforts to live up the Rotary motto “service above self”.
We meet Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Cathedral on 13th Avenue. It has been our privilege to host several short- and long-term foreign exchange students, and we are pleased this year to welcome a long-term exchange student from Brazil.
Locally, our club serves several projects in the North Central area of Regina. We partner with Kitchener School for our “First Days Project”, providing school supplies for Grades 7 and 8 students, as well as for our “Christmas Backpack Projects” for Grades 4 and 5. We participate in a literacy program at Sacred Heart.
Internationally, we participate in the Rotary’s more recent project “PolioPlus” which is an effort to eradicate the disease of Polio throughout the world. We also participate in the Shelterbox program, that provides shelter to displaced individuals around the world due to natural or man-made disasters.
Regina Oskaya is also proud to sponsor the local Rotaract Club of Regina Auxilium, an energetic group of young adults who recently raised $3,000 for the eradication of Polio by sponsoring a wonderful dinner. Our club is also pleased to sponsor the Interact Club of Archbishop M.C. O’Neill High School. This enthusiastic club of 40-plus students, under the capable guidance of a teacher adviser, held their own PolioPlus event, raising $1,000 with the “Purple Finger Campaign”.
If you think Regina Oskaya might be for you, we would love to have you drop by and get to know us as we get to know you.
